Honestly, I have never been a hat person. I always tried whatever “hat trend” was happening, and never found that I could pull it off, no matter how bad I wanted to. From baseball caps to straw fedoras, I’ve tried it all. While it seems pretty obvious to be into hats as the temperature starts to drop, I always went for the other options like earmuffs, or sucked it up and wore a toque my aunt knit me. Until now that is! Not sure if my opinion of my appearance in hats changed, or if it was some outside force making me love them, but I’m all about the classic wool hat this autumn.
If you follow me on Instagram (and if you’re not, what’s wrong with you) you’ll have seen this hat in many posts lately. I bought it at a sample sale for a ridiculously inexpensive price, and it’s now my go-to for adding a little more to an outfit, or covering up a bad hair day. This one is such a classic style, that I can wear it throughout every season without looking ridiculous (except for the middle of August. Tried that, didn’t end well).
I’m also loving berets and baker boy hats this season, but I’m still finding those a little trickier for me to wear. Although I did wear a beret to Toronto Women’s Fashion Week, I had originally bought it to wear for a Halloween costume three years ago that never worked out. Until I can get my hands on one of Dior’s leather-esque berets, I’ll stick with my reliable wool hat.
